TV Host & Acclaimed Artist, Mike Scott Celebrating 40 Years as a Professional Entertainer

Mike Scott - Host of BlueHighways TV Program Behind the DreamRural Rhythm Records congratulates Mike Scott who celebrates 40 years in music which impressively includes over 450 performances at the Grand Ole Opry.  He first took the stage with his banjo at the age of 10 and now leads the Mike Scott & The Nashville Band. In addition, he still performs with Ronnie Reno & The Reno Tradition and can be seen regularly on “Reno’s Old Time Music Fest” TV Show airing on RFD TV and Blue Highways TV.

Mike was born in 1962 in Johnson City, Tennessee and has earned a fine reputation as a talented Singer, Songwriter, Producer and TV Host. As a sideman or a featured artist, he has toured extensively throughout every state in the US and all of Canada. He has also toured throughout Europe, including the Wembley Tours (England, Ireland, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Sweden), and was the first U.S. band to tour in South Africa (Zambia, Lesotho, Malawi).  He recently returned from his third tour to Israel which included headlining with his band at The Jacob’s Ladder Festival located by the Sea of Galilee. He also performed in Norway, The Netherlands, Holland, & Scotland this year.

At age 18, Mike joined “The Father of Bluegrass Gospel,” Carl Story and The Rambling Mountaineers.  He later joined Jim & Jesse and The Virginia Boys and then Ronnie Reno and The Reno Tradition.  Such ventures included performances on BBC TV (British Broadcasting Corporation) in Europe & South Africa and Austin City Limits PBS TV “The Legends of Bluegrass” featuring Bill Monroe, Jim & Jesse, Ralph Stanley, and Mac Wiseman.  He was also a featured guest artist on David Frizzell’s “Family and Friends” 2012 RFD TV Show.  Mike still enjoys occasional road dates and Opry performances with Jesse McReynolds and The Virginia Boys.

All of this experience and credentials has brought him to the forefront as the TV Host for Rural Rhythm’s “Behind the Dream” TV Show which airs on Blue Highways TV.  As Host, Mike interviews both legendary and new generation bluegrass and country artists.  This was a winning combination from the beginning as both Mike and Rural Rhythm share the same commitment and dedication for the preservation of this great music!

Mike also serves as TV Host and performer on the new CHRISTMAS: THE MOUNTAIN WAY CD/DVD that also aired this month on Blue Highways TV.  Rural Rhythm has released two albums by Mike Scott including BLUE MOON OF KENTUCKY – INSTRUMENTAL TRIBUTE TO BILL MONROE with guests Brian Sutton, Aubrey Haynie, Adam Steffey, Tim Stafford, Mike Compton, Ben Isaacs, Rob Ickes and more; along with TAKE ME LORD AND USE ME, released on Rural Rhythm Christian.  That album includes the amazing talents of: Vince Gill, Ricky Skaggs, Rhonda Vincent, Claire Lynch, Sonya Isaacs, Carl Jackson, Jesse McReynolds, Buck White, and Shelton Feazell.  Powergrass Radio has awarded Mike with two number one singles and “Song of the Year.”  In connection with Singing News Magazine and The Solid Gospel Radio Network, Mike was nominated as the 2011 “New Artist of the Year’ by the Front Porch Fellowship Bluegrass Gospel Awards Association.

TV Host & Acclaimed Artist, Mike Scott Set for Performance at IBMA Fan Fest

Rural Rhythm is proud to announce Mike Scott is set for a performance at the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) FanFest on Sunday, September 30, 2012 on the Main Stage at 10:15 a.m.  This popular event takes place during the IBMA World of Bluegrass convention held at the Nashville Convention Center, Nashville, TN.  Tickets and more information can be found at IBMA.org.

Mike currently serves as Host of the Rural Rhythm TV series BEHIND THE DREAM that airs on BlueHighways TV.  Mike has already welcomed several artists to the show including Marty Raybon and Carrie Hassler. Mike Scott Announces Tours to Israel and Europe

Acclaimed entertainer, musician and songwriter, Mike Scott is proud to announce his third tour of Israel.  Mike Scott & The Nashville Band will set out for an eight day tour May 2-8, 2012 that includes a headlining performance at the Jacob’s Ladder 36th Annual Spring Festival at the Nof Ginnosar Hotel in Magda, Israel on May 3-5, 2012.  The festival is located on the shores of The Sea of Galilee” and is Israel’s “Largest Family Festival” showcasing talent from around the world.  Mike and his band will be the only performers from the United States and are honored to represent our country at this festival.

July 8-23, 2012, Mike will begin a European tour with his longtime friend and fellow musician and singer-songwriter, Wayne Taylor. Mike will perform along with Wayne Taylor & Appaloosa as a Featured Artist for two weeks with performances in Norway, Germany, The Netherlands, and Scotland.

Mike can be seen on the upcoming RFD TV Special, “David Frizzell & Friends.” This TV Show was produced February 15, 2012 at The Ernest Tubb Record Shop in Nashville, TN. The show airs on RFD TV March 29-30, 2012.  Mike performs banjo as a featured artist with David on the song “Always Late With Your Kisses” – A Lefty Frizzell Classic.  Other guests on the show include: Mo Bandy, Jett Williams, and Jimmy Fortune.   Mike also recorded three songs on David’s newly released CD project, “Frizzell & Friends” that was recently released.
