About John, The Bluegrass Gospel Hour and hosted by John Sentell. We are nationally syndicated across the United States and internationally in England and France. The first question you may ask yourself is the name of the website, why call it “smoking” bluegrass. There are a couple of reasons why. The first is that we are blessed to not only be able to be heard on local radio staions but also from this very website. When it comes to the topic of Christianity in some countries, it is totally forbidden. In these countries, any website with a religious title or web address can quickly be blocked from view. We have heard from soldiers over seas who can tune in and hear us because our site is not blocked so with this title we hope it can pass by without any red flags. Plus I love fast bluegrass music, an idea of playing so fast that smoke can actually rise from the strings instruments!

The BGGH started at Praise FM in July of 2008 when I went to my Pastor and explained there are strong ties to bluegrass gospel music and southern gospel music, which is the format for Praise FM. After one demo the show was approved for airplay and quickly became a favorite at Praise FM. Praise FM, WVVW, covers the entire Mid Ohio Valley on 96.1 FM in Marietta, OH, 98.1 FM in Vienna, WV, Parkersburg, WV & Belpre, OH & 107.9 FM in Williamstown, WV and in our second year we have been blessed by God and grown to even more radio stations.

One station I do want to say thank you to is the United States Armed Forces Radio Network. I am both thrilled and honored to be apart of such a wonderful network, where we can play the style of music that reminds so many soldiers of music from their home and our Armed Forces fight for us, let us not only remember hem, but also pray for them!

You can click the schedule link for the station location and times of The BGGH and you can click on the speaker icon on our home page to hear the most recent show and you can click the blue folder to hear some of our archived shows.

The goal of The BGGH is to tell others about the love of Jesus Christ through music and to create a “bubble” around circumstances in our lives that can cause the light in our heart to be dim. It is amazing how the melody of bluegrass music can lift our spirits, brighten our day and even refresh our thoughts, even if only for a little while. With the love of Jesus Christ and the melody of bluegrass music, The BGGH hopes to bring a smile to your heart, a tap to your foot, a pat to your leg and a “bubble” around your circumstances over the next sixty minutes.

I am also honored to have the Sutton Ole Time Music Hour hosted by Sam Stout as part of smokingbluegrass’ family. Every Wednesday a new show that was recorded live on the famous corner stage at Sutton General Store in Granville, TN can be heard just below the spotlight band of the week picture. I would be honored to have you sign our guestbook, join us at facebook & feel free to email me anytime, I enjoy hearing from you! I hope you have a great day!
